Escape to Tanay

Tanay has been one of our favorite road trip destinations since last year. Aside from the cold weather and the amazing nature settings of most hotels and restaurants, the road to Tanay via Marcos highway, Antipolo has been cemented and widened for a better travel experience.

Our first stop is Pico De Pino restaurant. 

The restaurant has open areas like nipa huts and bamboo cottages that allow you to dine with your pet. 

You won't miss the restaurant as it is on the left side of the highway right after Baras, Rizal.

We had an overnight stay at Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center. 

It is a Bali-inspired resort located at Brgy. Aldea, Tanay, Rizal.

It has an overlooking view of the nearby towns, including the famous Laguna de Bay and the Pililia Windmills.

Night shots are also great for photography enthusiasts.

They offer several team building activities and some buggy off road experiences. 

They also allow pets at the hotel rooms and restaurants.

Our last stop is Martessem Hotel and Resort. They charge 50% more than the room rate in Bakasyunan, and charge the pets as well.

The mountainous view is great in the morning. The restaurants also offer a great range of food variety.

Most resorts and hotels nowadays allow pets as long as they have diapers, on leash at all times and has updated vaccination records.

Momarco Forest Cove Resort

Momarco Forest Cove Resort

Do you ever want to chill outside the metro, but don’t want to be stuck in the expressway traffic jams? Go to the east. Tanay has several mountain and forest resorts that are inspired by popular tourist destinations around the world.

My favorite is Momarco Forest Cove Resort. It is situated in Brgy. Aldea, Tanay, Rizal and is accessible to the provincial highway.

The resort offers rooms with balcony where you can enjoy the resort’s forest setting. The rooms are not new but are clean and well-maintained.

They also have a bar close to the pool and their restaurant offers several meal options.

They have man-made falls and lagoon and a very large pool for the family.

Matinloc Resort

The fastest and the most comfortable way to get to Matinloc Resort is to fly to El Nido airport via Air Swift. Travel time is an hour and a half, compared to the 12 hours of flying to Puerto Princesa and going by road to El Nido. From the airport, the resort is an hour and a half away (combination of private land and boat transfers). The coast guards are strict with the boat schedules as there’s an open sea part on the way to the island.

As you approach the island, you will see the beachfront suites and tree houses facing the ocean and the pristine beach. The forest houses can also be seen from afar with limestone cliffs as their background.

The suites have modern, country-style decorations and are so spacious. All have private balconies or terraces. They also have villas with separate whirlpool tubs. 
There's a bar facing the pool, and a restaurant with sea views, outdoor pools, and a private beach. 

The closest tourist destination is the Matinloc shrine and is part of El Nido Tour C. The resort also offers kayak and jetski rentals. 

If you don’t like large crowds, and would like to rejuvenate your senses, you’ll definitely enjoy this quiet place.

Boat and land transfers to and from El Nido town are free, as long as you set a schedule in advance, as they will need to get approval from the coast guards every time you need to leave and enter the island.
